12 December 2008: WCRC Contributes to the World Health Organisations' Guidelines on the provision of manual wheelchairs in less resourced settings

WHEELCHAIR DONATION: 25 SEPTEMBER 2008

The Helderberg Sunrise Rotary Club was instrumental in obtaining 10 wheelchairs from Sesego Cares for clients of the WCRC.

Sesego Cares is the voluntary non-profit organisation run by Absa spouses. Fatima Khan is the chairman of the Western Cape branch of Sesego
Cares.

Their latest project is the donation of more than 1000 wheelchairs to individuals with disabilities throughout South Africa over the next few months This initiative is executed in partnership with Rotary Club of Northcliff and the United Kingdom-based Rotary Club of Rushmoor.
 
Andre van Eeden is a member of the Helderberg Sunrise Rotary Club (HSRC) in Somerset West. After reading about the wheelchair initiative, he contacted Annemarie Mostert, Head of Protocol & Public Relations at Absa. Through his actions HSRC got involved as part of this initiative. Lynette Stassen is on the board of HSRC as their Club Director and with Andre manages the process and logistics of the wheelchair applications.

COMMENCEMENT OF 2008 TRAINING AT WCRC NURSING SCHOOL

WCRC NURSING SCHOOL: GRADUATION ON 29 JULY 2008

The W.C.R.C. hosted its second graduation ceremony for nurses who have completed their training at the Nursing School at the C.R. Louw Auditoruim, Sanlam Head Office, Bellville.  A total of 81 candidates graduated, of which 37 were R683 candidates and 44 were R2175 candidates. Sanlam sponsored the venue.

R683 students for 06/08 (bridging from staff nurse to professional/ registered nurse). Pass rate: 98%.

R2175 (2006 -2007): 100% pass rate.
